Group CFO BAI Communications – The No.1 priority for every Executive

I sat down with Stephen Matthews, Group CFO of BAI Communication recently. BAI designs, builds and operates communications networks – broadcast, radio, cellular, Wi-Fi, digital. They have operations in Australia, USA, Canada, Europe and Hong Kong, with some of the most innovative technology that is keeping people connected.

Before to joining BAI, Stephen was the Deputy CFO at NBN Co. Previously he worked with Foster’s Group for seven years in a number of roles including Group CFO and his early career was spent in the UK, Spain and Australia with Diageo.

In the interview, we discovered the importance around stretching your thinking. Being bold to seek out new experiences, new industries, and developing a breadth of skills beyond your current sweet spot or comfort zone.

I explored the important lessons learnt around attracting, developing and retaining talent. Stephen clearly stated that the number one priority for every Executive leader is building and develop a strong team. Taking the time to get the right people – ones with potential, curious and motivated. I valued the transparency and echo that experience can be built.
