A mentor today is ‘a dutiful trusted advisor, learner and provocateur’

Being a mentor provides a huge development opportunity. It drives a different type of accountability and commitment, a real test of the ability to listen, as well as an opportunity to openly share and reflect on career highs and lows. It allows a mentor to gain exposure to high potential people from other industries and cultures, as well as learn through the ‘reverse mentoring’ process from those who at times may think very differently.

We recently caught up with one of the Acquire mentors – Mark Steinberg, CFO of Cover-More. Mark provided a fascinating lens on the value and his experiences from being a mentor. Reflective learning provides a huge benefit for both the mentee and the mentor. Mark expressed the importance of a correct match between both parties to ensure the results the mentee is seeking are achieved.

The Acquire Knowledge Mentoring Programme – has been designed to help shape and grow future executive leaders. Our innovative programme enables up and coming professionals access to leading external executives that are passionate about supporting the development of top talent. Sponsoring organisations nominate their talent to this programme as potential mentees. A select number only are in turn matched with an external executive mentor based on their development needs, backgrounds, compatibility and chemistry.

Note: This is an invitation only programme. However, we welcome enquiries from sponsoring firms and leading executives that are interested in becoming ‘future’ mentors throughout the year. For more information please contact Gavin Houchell via email: gavin@acquiretalent.com.au
